Campaign Unavailable We're sorry, this alert is no longer available. If you would like to learn more about ways you can take action, please visit Union of Concerned Scientists. The short explanation of this alert was: Non-native plants and animals can damage the environment, endanger native species, and place a financial burden on affected communities. The emerald ash borer is a beetle, originally from Asia, that has killed more than 20 million ash trees in several U.S. states. If it spreads, it could eliminate all native ash species across the United States. While this situation is dire, it is not too late to protect the vast majority of ash trees in the U.S. Ask your elected official, a member of the Appropriations Committee’s Subcommittee on Agriculture, to commit $90 million this year to address this extraordinary threat. To look up your representative or senator's information click here. If you do not know who your representative is, click here. Please only call the senator or representative who is on the Appropriations Committee's Subcommittee on Agriculture. A congressional staffer will most likely answer your call and take down your message and information or direct you to leave a voice mail.
