The short explanation of this alert was:

In his five years at the Environmental Protection Agency, Bill Wehrum has distorted scientific analysis on toxic mercury emissions and attempted to marginalize the role of agency scientists in protecting the air we breathe.

On Tuesday, April 26, the Senate Environment and Public Works Committee voted to confirm Wehrum as the EPA’s top air quality official. One of your senators is a member of this committee.

Click here to look up your senator’s phone number and learn how they voted. Please call your senator to thank/express your disappointment over your senator's decision to vote against/for Mr. Wehrum's confirmation.

Note: Senator Barbara Boxer (D-CA) announced after the vote that she will place a hold on Mr. Wehrum's nomination, effectively paralyzing it on the Senate floor.
