The short explanation of this alert was:

To reduce global warming pollution and increase America’s energy independence and security, we must boost our use of clean, renewable energy. Today, Senator Jeff Bingaman (D-NM) introduced a renewable electricity standard bill that would require utilities to acquire 15 percent of their energy from renewable sources like the wind and sun by 2020. Unfortunately, the bill is threatened by an amendment that would include the use of nuclear, coal, and other dirty, non-renewable energy sources.

Please urge your senator to oppose amendments that undermine Senator Bingaman’s strong standard and derail American’s path to clean, renewable energy. Votes could happen as early as this afternoon so write your senator today!

Your senator will be most persuaded by letters that have a personal voice. Please make your letter personal by adding in your own thoughts and concerns. Every letter makes a difference, but customized letters have the greatest effect!
