The short explanation of this alert was:
| Oregon currently has the opportunity to substantially reduce emissions from the state’s #1 air pollution source: automobiles. If the state adopts improved auto emissions standards, its leadership will complete a West Coast clean air corridor that will lead to significant reductions in smog forming, toxic, and global warming pollution. Unfortunately, the DC-based automaker lobbyist group, the Auto Alliance, is up to its old tricks. They are using a deceptive ad campaign trying to scare Oregonians into calling Governor Kulongoski and asking him to oppose a state clean car program. Please contact the governor today and tell him that you have had enough of tired automaker tactics and want the cleaner car choices and healthier air that come with the improved emission standards. A copy of your message will be sent to your state senator, as they have also been heavily lobbied by the Auto Alliance.

- What particular impacts of smog, global warming, or toxic pollution do you find most worrisome?
- What, of the many automaker misrepresentations found here, do you find particularly deceptive?
